The short version

This site has no accounts, no logins, no newsletter and no shopping cart, so there is very little to collect. There are three things that do collect data: website analytics, the contact form, and the affiliate links you click.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages get read and which links get clicked. It sets cookies in your browser and records information including the pages you view, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and the referring site. We use it in aggregate -- we are looking at whether a page works, not at who you are, and we never attempt to identify an individual visitor.

One custom event is worth naming explicitly: when you click a product button, we record that a click happened, on which page, to which retailer. That is how we know which recommendations are useful. It does not record anything about you.

To opt out, use Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on, a browser-level tracking blocker, or your browser's cookie controls. Nothing on this site breaks if you do.

The contact form

If you send a message, we receive the name, email address, topic and message text you typed, by email. We use it to reply to you and for nothing else: no marketing list, no sharing, no sale of data. Messages are kept as long as the email thread is useful and deleted when it is not.

The form includes basic anti-spam checks: a hidden field that only automated submitters fill in, a check on how long the form was open before submission, and a per-IP submission limit held in memory. Your IP address is used for that rate limit at the moment of submission and is not stored in a database.

Affiliate links

Product buttons pass through our own redirect and on to Amazon, carrying our Associates tag. Amazon sets its own cookies at that point and its handling of your data is governed by Amazon's privacy notice, not ours. We receive aggregate commission reporting from Amazon; we do not receive your identity, your order contents or your payment details. What we do not do

• No accounts, so no stored credentials.
• No newsletter, so no email list.
• No payments taken on this site, so no card data, ever.
• No selling or renting of personal information to anyone.
• No advertising networks, retargeting pixels or data brokers. The analytics above is the only third-party script on the site.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to its processing. Because this site holds almost nothing, in practice that usually means contact-form email. Email contact@trailandterminal.com and we will act on it.

California residents: we do not sell personal information and have not in the preceding twelve months. Visitors in the EEA and UK: the lawful bases we rely on are consent for analytics cookies and legitimate interests for replying to a message you chose to send us.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the last-updated date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be summarized in that line rather than slipped in silently.
