About Trail & Terminal

One writer, one publisher, one subject: outdoor and travel gear that packs small.

By Brijon M.Last updated How we pick

What this site is for

Trail & Terminal covers one specific problem: gear that has to pack small and still work. A campsite setup that leaves room in the trunk for passengers. A daypack load you can carry all day. A carry-on that clears the sizer. The dog's kit, which nobody else seems to treat as part of the same packing problem.

Most gear sites are organized by activity, which means the same bottle gets reviewed three times by three different teams who never compare notes. This one is organized by trip type -- campsite, trail, road, terminal -- and it deliberately points out when something bought for one works for another. That crossover is the reason the site has the name it has.

Who writes it

Brijon M. — Owner, MadGrey LLC. Brijon M. is the hands-on owner behind MadGrey LLC and writes every page on Trail & Terminal.

That is the whole masthead. There is no editorial staff, no expert panel, no gear-testing team and no technical reviewer. If this site ever implies otherwise, it is an error. We would rather publish a leaner, honest author note than a padded one -- a fabricated credential is the fastest way to deserve being ignored.

Who publishes it

Trail & Terminal is published by MadGrey LLC. You can find the publisher's other work at madgreyllc.com.

What we will not claim

This is the part of an about page that usually gets skipped, and it is the part that tells you most about whether to trust the rest of the site.

  • We do not test gear. No lab, no sample program, no field team. You will not read "we tested forty tents" here, because we did not.
  • We do not hold credentials we have not earned. No certifications, no "reviewed by" line, no professional qualifications in outdoor instruction, veterinary medicine or anything else.
  • We do not print prices or star ratings. We hold no live price data, so a number here would be a remembered number rather than a true one. Buy buttons go to the current listing instead.
  • We do not publish testimonials. We have no verified reader reviews of this site, so there is no testimonials section anywhere on it.
  • We do not take payment for placement. There is no mechanism to buy a position on a list here.

What we do instead is in how we pick: stated criteria, attributed sources, and at least one honest negative on every single recommendation.

How the site makes money

Amazon Associates commissions, disclosed on every page that carries a buy link. Full terms in the affiliate disclosure.
